I really appreciate the Mayor arranging this meeting. It's good to know what's coming, even if it is a nightmare. I'm also glad to see so many people show up. Perhaps we can get organized enough to stay on top of the changes that are coming.
I was not able to make the Loop 9 meeting. Could someone post a summary of what we need to know is coming our way?
That would be much appreciated.
I was there and I am not sure what
transpired can be summerized. Its very involved, and you really need to have the maps in front of you to understand the impact to our city. I do admit to being somewhat
overwhelmed by it all.
For JP.. As I understand the T9 / TTC situation. The T9 is still being considered. Enviromental studies as well as other studies are being conducted now. The favored route for the T9 through Combine & Seagoville is this. The T9 toll road would come through Forney to Combine.
At 1389 & 175 there would be an enormous HIgh Five type connection.
It would be 3000-5000 feet wide.
The toll road would continue to Old Combine Rd. go down Combine Rd to Kohler's place and go through there to Malloy Bridge. The Toll Road would be between 450 - 600 Ft.wide.
It will then travel South to Interstate 45.
It will be a raised highway over the flood plain. Once this plan is accepted it will be presented to the builders of the Trans Texas Corridor. They will have the option of tying into the T9 through this part of the project. If they accept it - this portion of the TTC and the T9 will be the same toll road. They may not choose to tie in with the T9- in that case, they may build another toll road parrallel with the T9. This would most likely run through the middle of Combine.
Once the T9 plan is finalized, there will be Public hearings in all the cities that are impacted by the toll road. They expect the plan to be settled by end of December or in January.
The communities can offer alternatives and voice opinions - a record of community input will be recorded.
They'll take that information into consideration as they finalized the route they want.
They have said that people can say they don't want this in their community, but they have never stopped a portion of the Toll Road yet.
I believe community input is strictly for tweeking the route and because they have to by law.
They will build this. They expect to start builing the 1389 & 175 exchange in 2008. Finish by 2012.
They mentioned a cities task force. People from cities affected who are on a community task force. I don't know if anyone can be on it - or just city officials. The mayor of Combine is on the task force.
They have a website. www.t9.com
There is also a website that is opposed to the TTC and is keeping tabs on them. It is www.corridorwatch.org.
I may be off on some of the details - If anyone notices mistakes in my summary- please post them.
