There is a new police chief i dont know who he is only that he lives on the other side of Kemp (thanks a lot city council) In my opinion it does no good to have a police chief that does not live in the city...all he cares about is putting in his 8 hours and going home in the city police car...will the council ever learn

I don't know the new police chief or his name, but...
Let's give the man a chance before determining his motives and judging his professionalism.
It's not unusual for an officer to work in a different city than the one he or she lives in. It's quite common and doesn't mean anything.
It's more important to have someone who has good judgement, good character, good sense, and is looking out for the good citizens of Combine.
How about "Welcome, thank you for wanting to work here, we hope it proves to be beneficial for you and for the people of Combine."
That's a little more neighborly and open to the possibility that this arrangement could be for the greater good for all concerned.

I agree it would nice for our police staff to reside in Combine. But I am thinking we are pretty limited to a very small candidate pool if we only look at local residents. Besides, maybe not living here he can be an uninfluenced or unbiased individual. I would surely take that over someone local that has too many ties and affiliations with local folks.

What about resurfacing of Eubanks also ? The last time Lanier was resurfaced, which was a poor excuse for a resurfacing, Eubanks was not even touched. Eubanks is just as sorry an excuse for a road as Lanier is. The mixture that the county uses that is "NOT ASPHALT", just a derivative of, never works. I have lived in Combine for 10 years, and I have never seen an "acceptable repair" done anywhere inside or outside the city limits. Davis has always been focused on more than any other street in the city. WHY ? Is it so our "sorry" excuse for a police department has a nicer road than most of the other citizens of this little community. Or is it because our mayor travels on Davis to get home ? I know that some of the other streets have neighborhood associations that maintain their streets, but Eubanks and Lanier do not.
